I have political preferences.

But this is not a political story.

This is a story about garbage.

There is one politician who keeps appearing in our mailbox here in Montreal.

Always the same one.

Always smiling very hard.

At this point, I see him more often than Canadian Tire flyers.

Sometimes I think he knows my postal code better than Canada Post.

Usually, everything that arrives in the mailbox goes straight into recycling.

Pizza coupons — recycling.

Furniture flyers — recycling.

A new internet plan at a price that will mysteriously stop existing in two years — recycling.

His flyer was different.

For some reason, I always put that one in the garbage.

Not recycling.

Garbage.

I don’t know.

It was my small contribution to Canadian politics.

No rallies.

No Facebook arguments.

Just:

**you are not recyclable.**

But recently, I changed my position.

Now his flyers go into recycling too.

Not because my political views changed.

I just thought:

at least this way, something useful might come out of him.
